The Press Trust of India reported that an Indian researcher on a short visit to Germany was beaten by three miscreants in Leipzig. There is media speculation that he was targetted because he is an Indian.
Mr Murali Manohar Joshi the Science and Technology Minister, who held talks with German Education and Research Minister Edelgard Bulmahn yesterday, said it was the responsibility of the German government to take care of those who come to the country.
This incident does not bode well for the German government attempt to attract Indian technical talent to Germany. Germany recently introduced a Green card system Green Card system which will make it possible for upto 20,000 IT specialists from abroad to take long-term jobs in the country
