John Howard, the Australian Prime Minister, will visit India on July 10-11, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. The Ministry says the aim of the trip is "further advance Australian-Indian cooperation in all respects."
Mr Howard's trip will be the first by an Australian PM in over 10 years – the last one was in 1989. Mr Howard will hold talks with Atal Behari Vajpayee, President K R Narayanan and other Indian ministers.
According to the Ministry, Australia's trade with India was US$ 2.1 billion in 1999, and currently, Australian investments in India are over US$ 1 billion.
