Vajpayee and Clinton Joint Press Conference
President Clinton joined Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on
March 21 condemning the killing of 36 Sikhs in Kashmir. He decried the
targeting of civilians and called for a peaceful solution to Kashmir.

Vajpayee-Clinton Joint Vision Statement
(Both leaders pledge to deal with the nuclear issue)
President Clinton and India's Prime Minister Vajpayee issued a joint vision statement on March 21 about the future of U.S.-India relations. In the document both leaders pledged to engage in regular consultations or "summits" to foster stability in Asia;
counter terrorism; strengthen international security through the United Nations; and develop bilateral economic, scientific and commercial dialogues. They also pledged to work together to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons and the means of
delivery.
