France wants to attract Indian students, the Times of India reports. Most Indian students head for English speaking countries such as the US, UK or Australia, and the newspaper quoted the French Consul General, Yves Charpentier, as saying: "It is cheaper to study in France. Language is not a barrier that can't be crossed."
Taking a leaf out the Australian universities' book, the French government is holding fairs in India, to spread the word around. These fairs were held in Delhi, Calcutta and Mumbai last year, and one is planned in Bangalore this year.
Unfortunately, no mention was made of scholarships, assistantships or aid of any kind! Nothing new there, then!
