The Indian government will market the country as a business destination by holding a series of roadshows in the US and Western Europe, according to media reports.
The Indian government is concerned about the decline in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the country and hence will be holding the roadshows, beginning in April. The Indian delegation will comprise businessmen, ministers, officials and may also include representation from various states. The campaign kicks off in Germany, followed by visits to the UK and the US.
India gets a measly share of the FDI to developing countries – it was only 1.9 percent in 1997, and this figure fell to 1.4 per cent in 1998, a report says.
