"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe..That we can make a difference"
Once upon a time a group of people set out to dream and work towards making the dream come true. The dream - To cycle across the vast Indian sub-continent and raise funds to alleviate the suffering of poor and destitute children. This has now got the form of 4 cyclists from different parts of the world, coming together for a single goal - to make the lives of poor Indian children brighter and happier.
The realityIn the month of March 2000, these 4 cyclists, a Briton, an African, an Arab from the UAE, and an Indian, will cycle from Kashmir to Kanyakumari - a distance of close to 3,300 KM in a period of 40 days. Cycling through 9 states with multi languages, multi cultures, extreme weather conditions, heat soaring upto 45o in parts with humidity of up to 100%.
To touch the lives of childrenThrough international media exposure that this project will receive, the cyclists will draw attention to the plight of the underprivileged child - the destitute child, the handicapped child, the abused child, the young victim of war..
The proceeds from the efforts of these cyclists will go towards supporting the Rashid Pediatric Center in Dubai . And towards Ashraya (meaning 'shelter' in Sanskrit) a child welfare organisation committed to making a difference to countless underprivileged children in India.
In their mission, these cyclists are being supported by the Round Table movement - a fraternity of young professional men spread all over the world who, like them, are committed towards touching the lives of people less privileged then them.
