Subject: Bank officer refused to attest the signature
Dear NRIOL,
I had a daughter in Febuary 2001.
I requested my rep in India to have my signature (on certain papers of Stock Holding Corporation of India) verified by Punjab National Bank/Naini branch. The branch manager refused to do the needful. His contention is that his code nr. is confidential and he can not reveal it to any other person. I doubt his contention because every officer signing a bank draft indicates his or her code nr. on it.
My rep then approached CBI/Naini branch where I have an other account. The branch manager gladly verified the signature and also indicated his code nr. thereon as desired by SHCIL.
I reported the matter to PN Bank's higher officials including chairman. I did not hear anything back from any of the authorities even after expiry of considerable time.
I am posting this message to expose the callousness of PNB.
