Problems with Punjab National Bank

From: Kailash Srivastava, Sweden

Subject: Problems with Punjab National Bank

I am writing to inform you that it has been highly frustrating to be a customer of Punjab National Bank (PNB).

I inherited certain fixed deposits consequent upon death of my mother. Since I am non resident within the meaning of IT Act and FEMA, I requested branch manager Naini verbally as well as in writing to redesignate the said accounts as NRO accounts. He verbally refused me and my rep to do the needful. He has not provided me anything in writing so far. He apparently seems to have scant regards for the rule of the land.

I have complained against the attitude of the Branch Manager to higher authorities of PNB including the Chairman PNB. My complaints have gone to the Regional Manager, Varanasi, the Zonal Manager, Lucknow, the Chairman PNB. In addition to above authorities, I have sent the complaint to various other email addresses listed on the web page of PNB.

It is sorry to state that no action so far has been taken by the branch manager Naini and my complaints to even higher authorities have been simply ignored for the reasons best known to them. Is there any way out of this callousness? If yes, what is it?

I am posting this message to expose the callousness of PNB to NRIs.

Thanks,
Kailash Srivastava, Sweden
