Meet Madhu Dorai...

1. Why did you leave India?
For a better life and livelihood.

2. Do you plan to return to India to settle down?
Yes. I would settle down in Bangalore, which is my home town.

3. What do you like most about being abroad?
Good quality of life. You can afford to own most of the things you wished to own in India.

4. What do like least about being abroad?
Living a secluded insecure life not knowing where you belong.

5. Would you be concerned about raising your family outside India?
Not really.

6. What are your thoughts about marrying outside your immediate community, someone who speaks a different language or practices a different religion?
Not a problem to me as long as they don't have a problem.

7. What would be the first thing you would do if you became the Prime Minister of India?
Eradicate corruption. Control the ever exploding Indian population.

8. What do you think are India's greatest strengths?(max 3)
1. Manpower.
2. Tolerance.
3. Multicultural.

9. What do you think are the biggest problems facing India? (max 3)
1. Corruption.
2. Politicians.
3. Bureaucracy.

10. Do you think that a presidential form of government would better serve the needs of India's democracy?
Probably, provided the President is a Defence personnel not a politican.

11. For whom do you have the highest regard amongst living Indians?
Indian Jawans.

12. Do you think that the national obsession with Cricket has helped or has it hurt India as a sporting nation?
Hurt India badly.

13. What do you think are India's greatest achievements since Independence? (max 3)?
1. Space Technology.
2. Leader in IT Software services.
3. Keeping all the states together as one country unlike Russia.

14. What is your favourite pastime?
Browsing the web.

15. What is your happiest memory?
My innocent school days.

16. What's your most memorable journey?
Driving into a snowstorm (Blizzard) successfully in the US for about 14 hours.

17. What is your ultimate food dish?
Dosa & Biryani.

18. What are your favourite movies? (max 3)
1. Gladiator.
2. Jurassic Park.
3. Star Wars.

19. What are your favourite books (please list authors as well)? (max 3)
Don't know. Stopped reading books for over 3 years. Web and Broadband changes the way you read.

20. A message from you to other NRIs
Never highlight only the bad things about India to your colleagues (who are not Indians). Have your own Lifestyle do not try to imitate somebody.
